Founded in 1988, The School of the Nations serves the educational needs of both the local and expatriate communities in Macau educating students from kindergarten through to secondary. They require a Secondary Maths Teacher to start in August 2018.
The school follows the English Curriculum with some adaptation with materials from Singapore, United Kingdom, United States, Australia and Hong Kong, while the Chinese Curriculum comes from Hong Kong and the United States. The curriculum aims to develop character and build capacity for service while promoting academic excellence, along with internationally recognised programmes such as International Baccalaureate (IB) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
The enrolment is currently over 600 students with a teaching and support staff of more than 120 people representing more than 15 different countries.
The School of the Nations is owned and operated by the Badi Foundation which is a non-profit non-governmental organization registered in Macau. The Secondary section of the School of the Nations comprises of six levels - Forms 1 to 6. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 25 students per class. English is the medium of language, though about 18% of the time is dedicated to learning Mandarin Chinese. Both the English and the Mandarin programmes are designed to cater for the range of students from beginners to native speakers.
The Secondary program builds initially to Form 4 with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) certificate. The IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14–16-year-olds. It develops successful students, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education, including progression to higher level study or immediate employment. The Cambridge IGCSE is recognized by universities and employers worldwide. For the final two years of the Secondary program, students prepare for International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. This program is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16-19, for success at university and life beyond.
