JOB DESCRIPTION: VICE PRINCIPAL PASTORAL (FEMALE)
📋 POSITION OVERVIEW
- Job Title: Vice Principal Pastoral (Female Section)

ROLE SUMMARY
The Vice Principal Pastoral serves as the key point of contact for all matters relating to student well-being, safeguarding, and behavior management within the Female Section. This role is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive pastoral care frameworks, promoting student progress, and collaborating with academic leadership to eliminate barriers to learning in alignment with the school’s values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Student Welfare & Safeguarding
- Manage the day-to-day administration of systems and procedures relating to student welfare and safeguarding.
- Oversee and monitor student behavior, attendance, punctuality, and attitudes to learning.
- Implement the school's behavior management policy consistently, ensuring firm yet respectful enforcement.
- Support student well-being by actively applying equal opportunities and anti-bullying policies.
2. Leadership & Strategic Management
- Design and review pastoral care and access frameworks in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
- Establish a culture of high performance, positive morale, and strong character development in students.
- Address student and parent concerns through proper channels with professionalism and respect.
- Lead school assemblies and support student transition programs between grade levels.
3. Teaching, Learning & Inclusion Support.
- Liaise with the academic leadership team to apply targeted interventions for vulnerable learners.
- Monitor students with Behavior Support Plans, Pastoral Support Plans, or Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Ensure learning and access opportunities for culturally diverse and mixed-ability students.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on conflict resolution, anger management, and self-esteem building.
4. Administration & Resource Management.
- Maintain comprehensive, confidential records for individual students and specialized learning departments.
- Develop and update essential documentation, including school policies, handbooks, and operational reports.
- Manage the designated budget and inventory for the Pastoral Care and Access sector.
- Coordinate major school events, including Parents' Evenings, school trips, and extracurricular initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE PROFILE
Education & Professional Experience
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent (Master’s in Educational Leadership preferred).
- Qualification: A recognized teaching qualification is required; background in Psychology or Special Needs (SEN) is highly advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of senior leadership experience in national or international schools.
- Skills: Strong expertise in counseling, advisory support, and operational management of SEN or pastoral systems.
