A British International School in Kuwait are seeking to appoint a well qualified Key Stage 1 teacher to join their friendly, efficient and extremely successful phase of the school. The successful candidate will be required to teach a Year 1 or Year 2 class with full responsibility for their general classroom education and pastoral well-being. Their children are well behaved and highly motivated pupils with a keen desire to learn and excel. At TES we follow the National Curriculum for England, adapting to suit our location and our diverse pupil body. They expect their children to be confident enquirers by the time they transition to the Prep department and to this end they promote enquiry based learning across the Pre-Prep school. The successful candidate will need to be positive, enthusiastic and creative in their approach.
Candidates must have British qualifications. They are expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree and a recognised teaching qualification. Prior experience in an international school setting is not essential. We operate a 6 point “Main Scale”. Salaries are paid at the end of each month in Kuwaiti Dinars and are tax free.

Free furnished and air-conditioned accommodation will be provided for all Overseas-Hired Teachers. It is the School’s current policy to provide single accommodation. Accommodation suitable for married couples will be provided when both partners are teaching in the school.

As a newly hired teacher you will be issued a free one way British Airways economy class ticket from your agreed point of origin to Kuwait.
Upon completion of your contract you will be issued a free one way British Airways economy class ticket from Kuwait to your agreed point of origin.
If you decide to renew your one year contract, you will be issued a free return British Airways economy class ticket. You will receive a return ticket each year you sign a contract renewal.
All employees who have completed a minimum of one full year of employment with the School are entitled to a “Terminal Indemnity” at the end of their contract. This is a lump sum payment related to the final year salary and the number of years in which the member of staff has been employed at the school. For the first five years of employment this amount is just over 1/2 month salary per year of employment, this increases to one full month’s salary for the sixth and subsequent years. The maximum indemnity payable is one and a half years salary.
All overseas hire teachers are entitled to up to one month salary advance (3 times per academic year), in addition to this you can request an interest free car loan which can be paid over the period of your contract.
As a member of the European Council of International Schools, the School is able to offer all employees and their families BUPA health insurance at substantially reduced rates. This scheme is entirely voluntary.
As a newly appointed overseas hire teacher you are entitled to reimbursement of up to KD100 upon the provision of receipts to assist with expenses relating to baggage costs incurred in relocating to Kuwait. The School will also reimburse you for all reasonable expenses incurred in obtaining the necessary documentation for processing your visa.
