Excellent opportunity for a teacher of physics within high profile school in the private sector. Candidates should be GTCS registered or eligible for registration. The school operates its own salary scale which is above the national pay scale. The salary for this position will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Subject to satisfying eligibility criteria, the successful applicant will be automatically enrolled into the Scottish Teachers’ Superannuation Scheme, but will have the right to opt out.
The successful candidate will join a friendly team of five science teachers with individual subject heads in a recently opened science block. Facilities comprise bright and spacious purpose-built labs with visualisers and LCD interactive boards, dedicated laboratory technician support and a sixth year project room.
Teaching Role
- To prepare and deliver lessons to pupils from first year through to sixth year using a range of suitable teaching approaches, assessment and evaluation methods.
- To provide a stimulating and safe learning environment for pupils, including practicals, carried out according to the department safety policy.
- To prepare pupils for examinations and where required, assist in their administration.
- To assess, record and report on pupils' progress.
- To liaise with form teachers, guidance staff and support for learning staff regarding the work of individual pupils.
- To develop good working relationships with parents and attend parents’ evenings.
- To attend whole school staff meetings; to work with colleagues to develop and implement teaching and learning strategies in line with school policy.
- To participate in the school’s professional learning programme.
- To take part in school open days.
- To cover for colleagues as required.
- To help to foster a lively and inclusive atmosphere within the department for pupils and staff.
